Plastic Bag Ban Goes into effect January 2021

Have you heard? The Baltimore City Council passed the Comprehensive Plastic Bag Reduction Bill on November 18th, 2019 and Mayor Jack Young signed the bill into law on January 13th, 2020. Thanks to all who worked so tirelessly on getting this bill through the process. We all know that plastics damage our environment, wildlife, health, infrastructure and much more. Let's keep pushing these sensible solutions that drive behavior change and make us think about how our waste impacts our world.

Legislation is one of our key focuses here at Baltimore Beyond Plastic. Whether laws manifest on the city or state level, the passage of regulations like plastic product bans or recycling enhancements are crucial to leaving our city plastic-free.
